Cathédrale orthodoxe de style russo-byzantin construite pour la communauté russe de Paris à l'initiative de Joseph Vassiliev, aumonier de l'ambassade impériale de Russie. Elle est conçue par l'architecte Roman Kouzmine, premier architecte de la cour impériale ; l'architecte Ivan Strohm dirige les travaux à Paris à partir de 1860 ; la cathédrale est consacrée le 11 septembre 1861. Elle renferme de nombreuses peintures et icônes dues à Théodore Bronnikov et aux frères Eugraphe et Paul Sorokine. History
Orthodox cathedral of Russo-Byzantine style built for the Russian community of Paris at the initiative of Joseph Vassiliev, chaplain of the imperial embassy of Russia. It is designed by the architect Roman Kouzmine, first architect of the imperial court; the architect Ivan Strohm directs the works in Paris from 1860; the cathedral is consecrated on 11 September 1861. It contains numerous paintings and icons due to Théodore Bronnikov and to the brothers Eugraphe and Paul Sorokine. Following infiltrations, the crypt was restored from 1955 to 1956, and entirely repainted with frescoes due to the decorator and architect Albert-Alexandrovitch Benois, executed in collaboration with his wife Marguerite. They evoke the Christianisation of Russia.
