Historique

History
Hospice built from 1877 to 1888 by the architect Léon Ginain for the Duchess of Galliera. The chapel, located at the centre of the buildings, features interior decoration of Byzantine inspiration (Justinian era). The laundry and the water tower constitute independent buildings, built by the architect Prosper Bobin. The laundry with polychrome brick façades and with metal beams, supports and roof structure, is an example of rationalist architecture of the late 19th century. The water tower was built entirely in reinforced cement by Joseph Monier, inventor of a process applied to tanks and reservoirs from the 1860s onwards.
