Grande villa construite en 1923 par l'architecte Rob Mallet-Stevens pour le couturier Paul Poiret. Située sur un coteau dominant la Seine, elle est conçue comme une maison de campagne mais comporte aussi un grand patio destiné à des défilés de mode. Après la faillite du couturier en 1924, l'édifice, inachevé, reste à l'abandon pendant une dizaine d'années, avant d'être acheté par la vicomtesse Elvire Foy (née Popesco) , artiste dramatique d'origine roumaine. L'architecte reprend l'édifice pour la nouvelle propriétaire, effectuant en 1934 une série de modifications destinées à conforter l'habitabilité de la villa, au détriment de son caractère d'apparat.

History
Large villa built in 1923 by architect Rob Mallet-Stevens for couturier Paul Poiret. Situated on a hillside overlooking the Seine, it is designed as a country house but also includes a large patio intended for fashion shows. After the couturier's bankruptcy in 1924, the building, unfinished, remains abandoned for about ten years, before being purchased by Viscountess Elvire Foy (née Popesco), a dramatic artist of Romanian origin. The architect takes over the building for the new owner, carrying out in 1934 a series of modifications designed to enhance the habitability of the villa, to the detriment of its ceremonial character.
