Historique
Grand café-brasserie installé en 1954 sur la place Pigalle. La conception générale du décor, due à Maurice Gridaine, est réalisée dans un style caractéristique des années 1950 qui fait appel aux nouveaux matériaux : tubes, tiges métalliques, tôle, matière plastique, panneaux stratifiés. Au fond de la salle, les peintures, d'inspiration surréaliste, sont signées de R. Lecoq. Le restaurant a été réaménagé en 1984, entraînant la disparition du débit de tabac à l'angle de la rue André-Antoine. Enfin, en 1994, un nouveau propriétaire a repris l'établissement pour le rebaptiser "Café Chào-Bà" : un décor d'inspiration nord-viêtnamienne, tout en bambou et ventilateurs, a fait disparaître le décor des années 1950.

History
Large café-brasserie established in 1954 on Place Pigalle. The general design of the décor, due to Maurice Gridaine, is executed in a style characteristic of the 1950s which makes use of new materials: tubes, metal rods, sheet metal, plastic, laminated panels. At the back of the room, the paintings, of surrealist inspiration, are signed by R. Lecoq. The restaurant was refurbished in 1984, resulting in the loss of the tobacco counter at the corner of the rue André-Antoine. Finally, in 1994, a new owner took over the establishment to rename it "Café Chào-Bà": a décor of north-Vietnamese inspiration, entirely in bamboo and fans, caused the décor of the 1950s to disappear.
