Historique

History
Inaugurated in March 1912, the laboratory built by engineer Gustave Eiffel for his own research is one of the world's first aerodynamic laboratories. A simple hangar with metal frames houses an exceptional technical ensemble, comprising the wind tunnel with its electric motor, as well as numerous control and measuring devices used by the engineer. In 1920, Eiffel hands over his laboratory to the technical services of aeronautics which assign it, in 1929, to the Chambre syndicale des industries aéronautiques. The installation is still used in 1997 to test on models the aerodynamics of aircraft, automobiles and buildings.
