Historique
Cet hôtel, dit Hôtel Bergeret de Frouville, semble aujourd'hui ne former qu'un seul ensemble architectural avec l'immeuble voisin dit hôtel de la Haye (notice Mérimée PA00086107) , du fait de leur acquisition à la fin du 19e siècle par la Ville de Paris. La symétrie dans la composition des deux hôtels semble avoir été voulue dès l'origine. L'histoire l'a en partie sauvegardée. Il n'en va pas de même pour les décors intérieurs qui ont été très altérés et dont la qualité n'est évoquée que par quelques vestiges (rosaces de plafond, éléments de corniches...). Mais, du vaste hôtel Bergeret de Frouville qui s'étendait à l'angle de la rue de Vendôme et de la rue Charlot, il ne subsiste actuellement qu'une partie. Les bâtiments qui s'étendaient le long de la rue Charlot (ancien hôtel Poullain) ont disparu lors de la création de nouveaux immeubles vers 1882. Cet hôtel fut construit en 1720 par Peyrenc de Morans. On y accède par une très belle porte (inscrite à l'Inventaire supplémentaire des Monuments historiques en 1925). L'hôtel se compose d'un petit corps de bâtiment sur la rue élevé sur rez-de-chaussée d'une cour entourée à droite d'une aile, et, au fond, d'un grand corps de logis ; ces bâtiments élevés sur caves sont constituées d'un rez-de-chaussée, d'un étage carré et d'un étage mansardé. Au 18e siècle, une basse-cour entourée de bâtiments s'étendait au sud, à l'emplacement de l'actuelle rue de la Franche-Comté. On voit aujourd'hui à cet endroit un vaste mur pignon où l'on devine encore les anciens percements de la façade sur la basse cour de l'hôtel. A noter, à l'intérieur, le bel escalier à rampe en fer forgé inscrit à l'Inventaire supplémentaire des Monuments historiques en 1925 ainsi que de fort belles caves voûtées assez semblables à celles de l'hôtel de la Haye au 5 rue Béranger.

This mansion, called the Hôtel Bergeret de Frouville, today appears to form a single architectural ensemble with the neighbouring building called the hôtel de la Haye (Mérimée notice PA00086107), due to their acquisition at the end of the 19th century by the City of Paris.
