Les vestiges les plus importants des fortifications du Moyen Age de Colmar - rasées en 1673 sur l'ordre de Louvois. Conservé sur une longueur d'environ 100 m, le mur d'enceinte longe la Lauch. Construction en briques, sur socle en pierre de taille. Sa hauteur actuelle est d'environ 5 m. La crête, refaite, est protégée par des tuiles. Deux étages de meurtrières, percées dans des blocs de pierre encastrés dans le mur. Vestiges de deux tours carrées : l'une, vers la rue des Tanneurs, a été transformée, ultérieurement, en habitation, un étage en pans de bois ayant été construit sur sa partie inférieure, conservée. History
The most important vestiges of the medieval fortifications of Colmar - razed in 1673 by order of Louvois. Preserved over a length of approximately 100 m, the curtain wall runs along the Lauch. Construction in bricks, on a base of dressed stone. Its present height is approximately 5 m. The crest, rebuilt, is protected by tiles. Two levels of loopholes, pierced in blocks of stone set into the wall. Vestiges of two square towers: one, towards the rue des Tanneurs, was subsequently transformed into a dwelling, a timber-framed storey having been built on its lower part, which is preserved. The other, at approximately 50 m distance, has also preserved only the lower part, projecting from the face of the wall.
