Construit en 1642, comme l'indique une date mutilée, le bâtiment protégé, en plan rectangulaire, fut légèrement transformé pour recevoir les pièces d'artillerie qui venaient d'être fondues. Son pignon principal, à trois étages, percé d'un portail à fronton, est orné d'enroulements ajoutés au 18e siècle. History
Built in 1642, as indicated by a mutilated date, the protected building, in rectangular plan, was slightly transformed to receive artillery pieces that had just been cast. Its main gable, three storeys, pierced by a portal with pediment, is decorated with scrollwork added in the 18th century. The foundry was installed on the site of the former arsenal of the city of Strasbourg established from 1430 behind the urban defensive wall of the 13th century, it used the buildings of a convent of Poor Clares and part of the urban fortifications.
