Le tunnel sur la ligne de Pau à Canfranc a été construit de 1910 à 1914 par la Compagnie du Midi ; il a été électrifié et mis en service en 1928. La tête de tunnel est construite en maçonnerie de pierres de taille calcaire. La circulation est interrompue depuis 1970.
