Historique
Maison bâtie à la fin du 15e siècle. Elle a appartenu à des armateurs. C'est une des rares maisons médiévales de Saint-Jean-de-Luz à avoir échappé à l'incendie de 1558 lors d'une attaque espagnole. La maison, formant corps de logis rectangulaire, comporte deux étages, un grenier et une tour. La façade sur rue de la République est en pierre de taille avec fenêtres à meneaux ornées de moulures Renaissance. La façade sur rue de la Baleine est construite en moëllons de mortier avec des ouvertures irrégulières. La tour carrée contient un escalier en pierre de taille, en colimaçon, donnant accès aux trois étages. Sous le toit, elle est couverte par une coupole sur trompes en pierre de taille.

History
House built at the end of the 15th century. It belonged to shipowners. It is one of the rare medieval houses of Saint-Jean-de-Luz to have escaped the fire of 1558 during a Spanish attack. The house, forming a rectangular dwelling block, comprises two storeys, an attic and a tower. The façade on rue de la République is in ashlar with mullioned windows adorned with Renaissance mouldings. The façade on rue de la Baleine is built in rubble stone with irregular openings. The square tower contains a spiral staircase in ashlar, giving access to the three storeys. Beneath the roof, it is covered by a dome on stone pendentives.
