Grande demeure rectangulaire cantonnée de pavillons, le château fut édifié à l'extrême fin du 16e siècle par Pierre de Maytie, membre d'une vieille famille Mauléonnaise qui compta, entre autre, trois évêques d'Oloron. L'architecture est encore marquée par la Renaissance (fenêtres à meneaux et frontons, lucarnes ouvragées, mascarons, cheminées sculptées). La remarquable charpente en triple carène de navire soutient un immense toit de bardeaux et d'ardoise. L'édifice est complété par des dépendances et un pigeonnier.

History
Large rectangular residence flanked by pavilions, the château was built at the very end of the 16th century by Pierre de Maytie, member of an old Mauléonnaise family which counted, among others, three bishops of Oloron. The architecture is still marked by the Renaissance (windows with mullions and pediments, ornate dormers, mascarons, sculpted chimneys). The remarkable roof structure in triple ship's keel supports an immense roof of shingles and slate. The building is completed by outbuildings and a dovecote.
