La chapelle s'inscrit dans le mouvement de piété mariale qui a suscité dans les Pyrénées, depuis le Moyen Age, l'édification de chapelles de pèlerinage à la suite de l'apparition de la Vierge. La construction de l'édifice actuel date du 17e siècle et remplace un bâtiment plus ancien. Il comporte un chevet plat précédé d'une nef à trois travées déterminées par des pilastres colossaux en marbre noir. Cette nef est recouverte de fausses voûtes d'ogives en bois. Deux bas-côtés encadrent la nef. Une tribune prend appui sur les murs latéraux intérieurs des pavillons encadrant la façade et sur une colonne formant ainsi une sorte de vestibule.

History
The chapel is part of the movement of Marian piety which has prompted in the Pyrenees, since the Middle Ages, the building of pilgrimage chapels following the appearance of the Virgin. The construction of the present building dates from the 17th century and replaces an older building. It comprises a flat chevet preceded by a nave with three bays determined by colossal pilasters in black marble. This nave is covered with false rib vaults in wood. Two aisles flank the nave. A gallery rests on the inner lateral walls of the pavilions framing the façade and on a column thus forming a sort of vestibule.
