Former fortified house situated on the road to Compostella via Roncevaux, mentioned from 1360 onwards. Substantially modified in the 16th century, the present castle comprises a square body of building flanked by four round towers. It comprises two storeys over a ground floor. The openings of the first storey have lost their mullions. On the north face there still remain traces of the primitive entrance door which was moved to the south face in the 18th century. The decapitated towers have retained their loopholes and, in one of them, rises the staircase which served the storeys. Only the north face possesses an arrangement of fine ashlar stones regularly coursed; the other façades are in small irregular ashlar. This could be explained by the fact that it was the noble façade or that, at ground level with the surrounding terrain, it was more exposed to the blows of assailants.
