Historique
Le couvent de bénédictines de Marmande fut fondé en 1645 par Antoinette d'Esparbès de Lussan, marquise de Grignols qui fit de sa fille la prieure à vie de l'établissement. La chapelle présente un plan rectangulaire avec un chevet plat. Le choeur est cantonné de deux chapelles latérales, l'une du 17e siècle, l'autre étant l'ancien choeur des religieuses raccourci en 1868. Les vantaux de la porte présentent un travail de menuiserie sculptée du 17e siècle. Le portail d'entrée comporte également un tympan en menuiserie orné de deux têtes d'angelots. La voûte lambrissée du choeur est entièrement ornée d'un décor peint du 17e siècle : trois médaillons inscrits chacun dans un quadrilobe puis un carré, sur fond de rinceaux, de feuillages et de bustes d'anges. Au 19e siècle, la chapelle est réaffectée au culte.

History
The convent of Benedictine nuns of Marmande was founded in 1645 by Antoinette d'Esparbès de Lussan, Marquise of Grignols, who made her daughter the lifetime prioress of the establishment. The chapel presents a rectangular plan with a flat chevet. The choir is flanked by two side chapels, one from the 17th century, the other being the former choir of the nuns shortened in 1868. The panels of the door present carved carpentry work from the 17th century. The entrance portal also features a tympanum in carpentry decorated with two cherub heads. The coffered vault of the choir is entirely decorated with painted ornament from the 17th century: three medallions each inscribed in a quadrilobe then a square, on a background of scrollwork, foliage and busts of angels. In the 19th century, the chapel is reassigned to worship.
