Historique

History
The monument was built by two bishops of Agen whose arms are present in the rooms. The tower is not connected to any defensive work and is devoid of loopholes. An échauguette on four machicolations overhangs the door. Of hexagonal plan with roof-ridge crownings, the tower comprises a ground floor and three storeys. An octagonal turret containing a spiral staircase is engaged at the south-west angle. The door, of Renaissance style, is surmounted by a pediment. From the second storey onwards, the parapets subdivide and terminate in fleuronned arcatures of which the highest, arranged on a rectangular mass, raises its bell turret up to the upper friezes. Inside, no floor division remains. According to tradition, the tower would never have been completed. It is also possible that the building underwent destruction, as projectile marks appear to indicate.
