L'édifice a dû être construit, à l'origine, pour surveiller un gué sur le Lot et un moulin voisin. L'immeuble comprend deux partie. L'une, ancienne, est établie sur une cave voûtée dans laquelle se distinguent encore deux meurtrières et comporte une tour ronde qui possédait un escalier à vis. L'autre, plus récente, a été bâtie en s'inspirant du château de Fumel, avec la même terrasse à balustres posée sur trois grandes arcades formant une galerie voûtée d'arêtes qui donne, elle-même, accès à une vaste cave voûtée en plein cintre.

History
The building must originally have been constructed to watch over a ford on the Lot and a neighbouring mill. The building comprises two parts. One, the older, is built on a vaulted cellar in which two murder holes can still be distinguished and includes a round tower which possessed a spiral staircase. The other, more recent, was built following the model of the château of Fumel, with the same terrace with balustrades resting on three large arches forming a rib-vaulted gallery which itself gives access to a vast barrel-vaulted cellar.
