Un château est mentionné dès 1286. C'était une forteresse qui surveillait l'ancienne voie romaine de Bordeaux à Agen. En 1792, le château fut vendu comme bien national, début de sa ruine. Le deuxième étage fut renversé en 1818. L'édifice actuel est un vaste bâtiment rectangulaire flanqué, à chaque extrémité, de deux pavillons carrés. Une aile perpendiculaire s'élève au nord de la façade postérieure. Le château est bâti sur une terrasse trapézoïdale dont l'accès se fait par deux poternes. A l'extrémité Est des communs se trouve l'ancien temple protestant. Le corps de l'édifice est en briques et les encadrements des baies font alterner brique et pierre blanche. La porte d'entrée en plein cintre est encadrée de bossages alternativement nus et vermiculés. Les pièces du premier étage ont conservé des plafonds peints à petits caissons, et des frises de bois sculpté.

History
A castle is mentioned from 1286. It was a fortress that watched over the old Roman road from Bordeaux to Agen. In 1792, the castle was sold as a national asset, beginning of its ruin. The second storey was torn down in 1818. The current building is a vast rectangular structure flanked, at each end, by two square pavilions. A perpendicular wing rises to the north of the rear façade. The castle is built on a trapezoidal terrace, access to which is by two posterns. At the east end of the outbuildings is found the old Protestant chapel. The body of the building is in brick and the frames of the openings alternate brick and white stone. The entrance door with round arch is framed by ashlars alternately smooth and vermiculated. The rooms of the first storey have retained painted ceilings with small coffers, and friezes of sculpted wood.
