Historique
Hôtel de 162 chambres construit en 1928 par l'architecte parisien André Granet, en collaboration avec deux architectes de Dax, Albert Pomade et Jean Prunetti. L'hôtel, inauguré en octobre 1929, fait partie d'un ensemble avec l'Atrium-Casino voisin ; l'architecte parisien Roger-Henri Expert collabore avec Granet pour les premiers plans, qui envisagent deux casinos et plusieurs hôtels. Jusqu'au niveau de l'entresol, l'hôtel Splendid est construit sur les vestiges de l'établissement Dax-Salin-Thermal datant de 1894, dû à l'architecte Pierre Esquié, et détruit par un incendie en juillet 1926. Il incorpore des salles de soins thermaux en sous-sol. Le mur lumineux du grand escalier est l'oeuvre des verriers Genet et Michon. La grande élévation couronnée d'arcades est remarquable. History
Hotel of 162 rooms built in 1928 by Parisian architect André Granet, in collaboration with two architects from Dax, Albert Pomade and Jean Prunetti. The hotel, inaugurated in October 1929, forms part of a complex with the neighbouring Atrium-Casino; Parisian architect Roger-Henri Expert collaborated with Granet on the initial plans, which envisaged two casinos and several hotels. Up to the level of the mezzanine, the Hôtel Splendid is built on the remains of the Dax-Salin-Thermal establishment dating from 1894, designed by architect Pierre Esquié, and destroyed by fire in July 1926. It incorporates thermal treatment rooms in the basement. The illuminated wall of the grand staircase is the work of glaziers Genet and Michon. The great elevation crowned with arcades is remarkable. The ground floor contains a large hall, a dining room and a smoking room in Art Deco style.
