Historique

History
The castle was built by the Albret in the second half of the 16th century. Henri de Navarre would stop there during his rides through Gascony. The primitive building was reworked in the 17th century then enlarged in the 18th. Additions of several buildings in the 19th and 20th centuries. The 16th-17th century section consists of a rectangular main dwelling, flanked at the north-west corner by a round tower and, at the south-east corner, by a rectangular pavilion fitted with a bretèche defending the entrance door. Loopholes also reinforce the tower and the pavilion. The latter houses the staircase. The main dwelling contains, on the ground floor, a room lined with wallpapers made under the Second Empire, devoted to evoking the stays of Henri IV at the castle. The buildings of the 18th century preserve a panelled salon. Interior decoration of the 19th century. The park preserves an ornate fountain with niches with vaults decorated with shells, fluted pilasters with Corinthian capitals, triangular pediment. Various outbuildings, including a large wine storage cellar, extend on the west side.
