Ces remparts d'une hauteur d'une dizaine de mètres sont construits en grand appareil coquiller d'Uchas, utilisé dans toutes les vieilles constructions de la ville. Ils datent du Moyen Age, probablement du 12e siècle, et servaient à défendre la ville à l'est. Quatre tours barlongues subsistent.

History
These ramparts, approximately ten metres in height, are constructed in large ashlar of shell stone from Uchas, used in all the old buildings of the city. They date from the Middle Ages, probably from the 12th century, and were used to defend the city to the east. Four oblong towers remain.
