Henri IV ayant fait cinq séjours à Sainte-Foy, dont un de trois semaines en 1584 pendant lequel il rendit visite à Montaigne, récompensa les consuls de Sainte-Foy pour leur accueil. Il en annoblit deux et les autorisa à élever une tourelle surmontée d'une girouette à l'angle de leur demeure. Cette maison devait appartenir à l'un de ces consuls. La maison du 15e siècle, avec poutres apparentes, présente une tourelle du 16e siècle. Chaque étage est en saillie sur le précédent et repose sur les poutres. History
Henry IV having made five visits to Sainte-Foy, including one of three weeks in 1584 during which he visited Montaigne, rewarded the consuls of Sainte-Foy for their welcome. He ennobled two of them and authorized them to raise a turret surmounted by a weathervane at the corner of their dwelling. This house was to belong to one of these consuls. The 15th-century house, with exposed beams, presents a 16th-century turret. Each storey projects over the one below and rests on the beams. Wooden cross-frames ornament both façades. The turret was to have been corbelled but its base is embedded in the masonry. Wrought iron weathervane above the turret.
