Historique

History
Reuse of the ruins of an ancient theatre by a medieval fortified dwelling of the end of the 14th century. The mound sheltered in the first three centuries of our era, a small Gallo-Roman settlement with public buildings, religious buildings and buildings for games. The fortified dwelling, the latest architectural testimony of the site, was built on the remains of the ancient theatre of which it reused the rubble in its construction and on which it had to adapt itself. It is composed of a rectangular main dwelling established on the remains of the cavea and orchestra of the theatre, a square tower established behind the podium of the stage and an enceinte formed by the combination of ancient structures and a system of banks and ditches created in the Middle Ages. It appears to have been abandoned at the end of the 14th or beginning of the 15th century.
