Logement construit en 1925 par Le Corbusier, avec son cousin Pierre Jeanneret, à la demande d'Henry Frugès. Celui-ci, fils d'un grand industriel sucrier de Bordeaux, avait commandé à l'architecte une série de cinquante-trois logements, amorce d'un grand ensemble où Le Corbusier a pu mettre en oeuvre quelques-unes de ses idées sur l'urbanisme et sur l'industrialisation et la standardisation de la production du bâtiment. Parmi les nouveautés : canon à ciment, murs isothermiques, jardins suspendus, quelques garages intégrés et d'autres commodités à l'avant-garde du progrès. Les maisons sont achevées en 1926 mais restent vides jusqu'en 1929. L'immeuble au 3 rue des Arcades, une maison type dans un ensemble de sept à la limite du quartier, a conservé un état proche de l'origine. D'autres maisons de l'ensemble ont été restaurées avec leur polychromie extérieure d'origine. La maison municipale Le Corbusier (au 4 rue Le Corbusier) est ouverte à la visite et conserve une maquette de l'ensemble, réalisée par Henry et Christiane Frugès en 1967.

History
Housing constructed in 1925 by Le Corbusier, with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret, at the request of Henry Frugès. The latter, son of a major sugar industrialist of Bordeaux, had commissioned the architect with a series of fifty-three dwellings, the beginning of a large ensemble where Le Corbusier was able to implement some of his ideas on town planning and on the industrialisation and standardisation of building production. Among the innovations: cement gun, isotherm walls, suspended gardens, some integrated garages and other amenities at the forefront of progress. The houses were completed in 1926 but remained empty until 1929. The building at 3 rue des Arcades, a typical house in a group of seven at the edge of the district, has retained a condition close to the original. Other houses in the ensemble have been restored with their original exterior polychromy. The municipal house Le Corbusier (at 4 rue Le Corbusier) is open to visitors and preserves a model of the ensemble, made by Henry and Christiane Frugès in 1967.
