Historique
Fort situé au sommet de l'à pic de la falaise de Tursac, interdisant tout passage sur la Vézère. Le bâtiment semble avoir été compris dans un quadrilatère. A l'ouest, un fossé taillé dans le roc l'isolait du reste du plateau. Au nord et à l'est, une douve sèche en partie naturelle concourait à sa défense. La falaise le rendait imprenable au sud. Une tour circulaire occupait l'angle nord-ouest. L'entrée se situait à l'est, au sommet d'une courte rampe qui s'élevait de la douve. A mi-hauteur de la falaise, une corniche court le long de celle-ci sur laquelle ouvre une suite d'abris naturels, sous le fort, qui ont dû être utilisés par la garnison comme écuries ou dépendances. Une muraille protégeait le passage et concourait à sa défense. Une chapelle a été bâtie au 15e siècle au centre de cette corniche en aménageant sous elle un passage.

History
Fort situated at the summit of the sheer cliff of the Tursac escarpment, preventing all passage on the Vézère. The building appears to have been contained within a quadrilateral. To the west, a ditch cut into the rock isolated it from the rest of the plateau. To the north and east, a dry moat partly natural contributed to its defence. The cliff made it impregnable to the south. A circular tower occupied the north-west corner. The entrance was situated to the east, at the top of a short ramp which rose from the moat. Halfway down the cliff, a cornice runs along it on which opens a succession of natural shelters, beneath the fort, which must have been used by the garrison as stables or outbuildings. A wall protected the passage and contributed to its defence. A chapel was built in the 15th century at the centre of this cornice by arranging a passage beneath it.
