Historique

History
The building suffered from the Hundred Years War, sometimes under English, sometimes under French rule. Four round towers punctuate the angles of the rectangular main dwelling. A fifth square tower, housing a staircase, reinforces the south-west façade. The south tower contains a chapel vaulted with ribs preserving remains of painting. Towers and main dwelling are crowned by a wall-walk with crenellations, merlons, loopholes for rifle fire and machicolations. A trefoil ogee arch articulates the interval between each console. In front of the square tower stands a wall which has lost its wall-walk. On the reverse of this construction determining a small interior rectangular courtyard, rest two levels of galleries vaulted with ribs comprising painted decorations. The château is built on a terrace in earth-platform bordered, to the south-east and north-east, by retaining walls and, to the south-west and north-west, by large outbuildings. To the west of this complex stands a round dovecote flanked by two pavilions.
