"Cette maison-forte dépendait très anciennement de la châtellenie d'Excideuil. Le nom primitif était très probablement "Ugonie". De plan rectangulaire, accolé d'une tour d'escalier polygonale au tiers de sa façade sud, le manoir se compose de deux étages sur rez-de-chaussée. L'ensemble des bâtiments ne représente qu'une partie de ce qu'ils étaient autrefois. Le côté ouest est agrémenté de deux petites échauguettes en saillie sur les angles. La tour a conservé une porte à arc en accolade avec un écusson martelé que présente un petit personnage dont seuls la tête et les bras sont visibles. Du sommet de l'accolade s'élève un piédestal formé de trois têtes de cordelières supportant un personnage accroupi dont la tête a disparu. La face nord a gardé ses ouvertures Renaissance. A quelques distances du manoir se dresse un pigeonnier circulaire."

"This fortified house belonged very anciently to the castellany of Excideuil. The original name was very probably "Ugonie". Of rectangular plan, attached with a polygonal staircase tower at a third of its southern façade, the manor comprises two storeys over a ground floor. The whole of the buildings represents only a part of what they were formerly. The western side is embellished with two small machicolations projecting on the corners. The tower has retained a door with ogee arch with a defaced coat of arms presented by a small figure of whom only the head and arms are visible. From the top of the ogee rises a pedestal formed of three heads of cord-like ornaments supporting a crouching figure of whom the head has disappeared. The north face has retained its Renaissance openings. A few distances from the manor stands a circular dovecot."
