History
The village is said to be the birthplace of Sulpice Sévère, ecclesiastical historian (circa 360), author of a "sacred history". After becoming historian of Saint-Martin-de-Tours, Sulpice Sévère established a monastery at Saint-Sulpice-d'Excideuil. The church is preceded by a porch tower. A single nave leads, without transition, to a flat chevet. In the 17th century, two lateral chapels were arranged. In the south wall, another chapel was cut out. Painted decoration on the soffit of the litre, made of scrollwork and foliage, dating no doubt from the 17th century.
