Le château actuel fut rebâti vers la fin du 15e siècle, sur des fondations plus anciennes. La dernière prieure de l'abbaye de Fontaine y naquit. Elle fut tuée et brûlée à la Révolution, et repose dans l'église de Saint-Pardoux. History
The present castle was rebuilt towards the end of the 15th century, on older foundations. The last prioress of the abbey of Fontaine was born there. She was killed and burnt during the Revolution, and rests in the church of Saint-Pardoux. The main dwelling is flanked by two enormous towers with machicolations, and is defended to the north by a third tower offset to the left. To the east, an 18th-century loggia with one storey, joined to the fortress in an L-shape. Pilasters extend to the roof.
