From the 12th century, a church existed of which the chevet and bell tower remain. In the 13th-14th century, two chapels were built on the north face, of which only the springing lines of the ogival arches that vaulted them remain. The Hundred Years' War forcing the inhabitants to take refuge there, the church was fortified by raising the bell tower and arranging defensive chambers. The current edifice comprises only a nave without bays, followed by a chevet, under a dome, with a flat chevet. To meet the defensive needs of the 14th century, the walls of the nave were reinforced and their thickening relieved by two relieving arches on each side, the summit of which, at mid-height, must have served as a wall-walk. In the south pier of the arch which separates the chevet from the nave, a staircase has been arranged, leading to the wall-walk and then to the defensive chambers of the bell tower, with a landing opening at the base of the dome. The chevet is vaulted with a dome on pendentives. Traces of paintings which decorated the sanctuary in the 18th century remain. The square bell tower rises on the East side, and constitutes the flat chevet of the edifice. It is pierced with loopholes corresponding to the defensive chambers. On its west face, a small opening gives access to the primitive roof space.
