Une tradition orale raconte qu'Isabeau de la Goublaye, dame de Bourdeix, mariée vers 1454 à Antoine Hélie de Colonges, fit voeu de bâtir une chapelle en l'honneur de la Vierge si elle obtenait un héritier dans l'année. Le voeu fut exaucé. L'église fut rebâtie vers 1600. Située à quelques mètres de l'ancien donjon du château, elle servit certainement de chapelle castrale. De plan barlong, l'église à deux nefs se termine par un chevet plat. La nef nord est la plus ancienne. Le mur est du choeur est le plus ancien. Le portail se compose de deux portes inégales, entre lesquelles se dressent le contrefort d'angle de la nef la plus ancienne. La voussure se compose de sept archivoltes en arcs brisés, la supérieure reposant sur des culs de lampe à figures humaines. Devant le choeur de la nef nord se trouve une crypte basse, voûtée, contenant de nombreux ossements.

History
An oral tradition recounts that Isabeau de la Goublaye, lady of Bourdeix, married around 1454 to Antoine Hélie de Colonges, made a vow to build a chapel in honour of the Virgin if she obtained an heir within the year. The vow was granted. The church was rebuilt around 1600. Situated a few metres from the old keep of the castle, it certainly served as a castle chapel. Of oblong plan, the church with two naves terminates in a flat chevet. The north nave is the oldest. The east wall of the choir is the oldest. The portal is composed of two unequal doors, between which rises the angle buttress of the oldest nave. The voussure is composed of seven voussures of broken arches, the upper resting on corbels with human figures. In front of the choir of the north nave is found a low vaulted crypt, containing numerous bones.
