En 1387, les Anglais ayant occupé et pillé pour la troisième fois le bourg de Saint-Laurent, le Saint-Sacrement fut transporté en lieu sûr, au château de la Baconie qui, depuis cette époque, est appelé Lieu-Dieu. Château construit au début du 14e siècle, entouré de douves. Le pont-levis, les tours rondes aux angles, le corps de logis très élevé et la cour intérieure très étroite, témoignent de l'histoire guerrière de l'édifice. La restauration de 1878, a probablement multiplié les créneaux et mâchicoulis. Le pigeonnier de plan octogonal paraît avoir été construit au 17e siècle. History
In 1387, the English having occupied and pillaged the town of Saint-Laurent for the third time, the Holy Sacrament was transported to a safe place, to the castle of la Baconie which, since that time, has been called Lieu-Dieu. Castle built in the early 14th century, surrounded by moats. The drawbridge, the round towers at the angles, the very lofty main dwelling and the very narrow interior court, bear witness to the warlike history of the building. The restoration of 1878 probably multiplied the crenellations and machicolations. The dovecot of octagonal plan appears to have been built in the 17th century.
