Historique
Château construit à partir de 1880, conçu par Mounet-sully, célèbre acteur de l'époque 1900. De par la personnalité de son propriétaire, ce fut le lieu de rencontre des plus grands personnages du monde du théâtre et des arts, ainsi que de divers prix de Rome de sculpture. Rodin aurait sculpté quelques chapiteaux du cloître et Rostand y aurait travaillé à son Cyrano de Bergerac. £L'édifice est un curieux imbroglio de postiches architecturaux. Une tour carolingienne compliquée d'un petit donjon roman s'élève au sud d'un bâtiment en équerre, comportant, outre une galerie de cloître, une construction de style gothique. A l'intérieur se trouve une petite salle de théâtre où les frères Mounet donnaient quelques représentations privées. Une décoration hétéroclite orne murs et plafonds : niches sculptées, encadrements, moulures, ferronneries aux initiales de l'acteur, mosaïque néo-byzantine, fresques, foisonnent selon un ordre imaginé par l'acteur.

History
Castle built from 1880, designed by Mounet-Sully, celebrated actor of the 1900 period. Through the personality of its owner, it was a meeting place for the greatest figures in the world of theatre and the arts, as well as various Prix de Rome winners in sculpture. Rodin is said to have sculpted some capitals of the cloister and Rostand is said to have worked there on his Cyrano de Bergerac. The building is a curious jumble of architectural pastiches. A Carolingian tower complicated by a small Romanesque keep rises to the south of a building in L-shape, comprising, besides a cloister gallery, a construction of Gothic style. Inside is found a small theatre hall where the Mounet brothers gave some private performances. A heteroclite decoration adorns walls and ceilings: sculpted niches, framings, mouldings, ironwork with the actor's initials, neo-Byzantine mosaic, frescoes, abound in an order devised by the actor.
