History
The villa was built from 1826 by Gaétan de May, whose family had been settled in Villefranche for several centuries already. From 1842 onwards, the villa was no longer inhabited by its owners, but by the tenant farmers of the estate; it was repurchased by the commune in 1967. The building, of neo-classical style, formed of a single rectangular block, comprises three levels. On the ground floor, two rooms are decorated with mural paintings representing landscapes; on the first floor, two rooms have a painted ceiling, the third is entirely painted with a decoration illustrating the judgment of Paris.
