Historique
Relevant à la fois de l'architecture et de la sculpture, la Closerie et la Villa Falbala sont l'oeuvre onirique du peintre Jean Dubuffet, réalisée de 1971 à 1973. L'ensemble est édifié aux frais de l'artiste sur un terrain lui appartenant. La Villa, construite en résine stratifiée sur une charpente métallique, comporte une antichambre conduisant au cabinet logologique, lieu de méditation conçu entre 1967 et 1969 par l'artiste et composé de 24 panneaux disposés en rectangle, sculptés et couverts d'écritures rouge, bleue et noire. Elle est entourée d'un jardin sculpté, la Closerie, destiné à isoler la villa ; les murs de la Closerie sont entièrement revêtus de peinture polyuréthane blanche, rehaussée de tracés noirs. History
Combining both architecture and sculpture, the Closerie and the Villa Falbala are the dream work of painter Jean Dubuffet, carried out from 1971 to 1973. The ensemble was built at the artist's expense on land belonging to him. The Villa, constructed in laminated resin on a metal frame, comprises an antechamber leading to the logological cabinet, a place of meditation designed between 1967 and 1969 by the artist and composed of 24 panels arranged in a rectangle, sculpted and covered with red, blue and black lettering. It is surrounded by a sculpted garden, the Closerie, intended to isolate the villa; the walls of the Closerie are entirely covered with white polyurethane paint, enhanced with black tracings. The ensemble was ceded to the Dubuffet Foundation during the artist's lifetime, in 1973.
