Kuvaus
Länsirannalla oleva kapea Ruutipuisto on luonnonsuojelualue.
Ruukinkartanon piha-alueen muodostavat empirekaudella rakennettu ruukin päärakennus ja kaksi lähes symmetristä siipirakennusta. Kartanon päärakennuksen ensimmäinen osa on valmistunut todennäköisesti 1806. Nykyiseen kokoonsa ja ulkoasun empiretyyliin rakennus on uudistettu 1830-luvulla. Kartanoa vastapäätä on kaksi asuinrakennusta, jotka on alun perin tarkoitettu ruukin sepille.
Kartanolta lähtevän puistoakselin toisessa päässä on 1826 rakennettu empiretyylinen ruutitehtaan kokeiluhuone "Propeeri".
Suurin osa muista rakennuksista on Etelä-Pohjanmaan maakuntamuseon museoalueella.
Historia
Östermyran ruukki sai privilegion harkkorautaa jalostavan manufaktuuripajan perustamiseen 1798. Ruukin perusti Seinäjoen Tikkakosken varteen vaasalainen porvari Abraham Falander. Uusi vaihe Östermyran historiassa alkoi, kun Falanderille (aateloituna Wasastjerna) 1804 myönnettiin privilegio kankirautavasaran ja kahden ahjon perustamiseen.
Östermyran teollisuus- ja kartanoympäristön rakennutti pääasiassa Falanderin poika Gustaf Adolf ja myöhemmin hänen poikansa Gustaf August Wasastjerna. Kartanon päärakennuksen kaksikerroksinen osa rakennettiin 1800-luvun ensimmäisellä vuosikymmenellä. Siipiosat rakennettiin 1833-34 paroni Karl Roesenkampffin piirustuksin. Samalla hirsirakennus rapattiin muistuttamaan kivirakennusta. 1860 valmistuneen lasiverannan suunnitteli arkkitehti Chiewitz.
Östermyraan perustettiin Wasastjernan ja valtion yhteistyönä Suomen ensimmäinen ruutitehdas 1825. Ruutitehtaan rakennuksista valtio rakennutti alueelle ruutilaboratorion, Propeerin, jonka piirustukset laadittiin todennäköisesti intendenttikonttorissa.
Ruudinvalmistus osoittautui raudanjalostusta kannattavammaksi. Erityisesti Saimaan kanavan rakentaminen ja ensimmäiset rautatietyömaat 1840-1860-luvuilla lisäsivät ruutitehtaan kannattavuutta. Tehdas toimi vuoteen 1890.
1830-luvun loppuvuosina ruukin raudantuotanto kohosi huomattavasti ollen ajoittain maan suurimpia.
Lähes kaikki kyseisistä tehdasrakennuksista on purettu.
Kivinen ruutivarasto muutettiin kirkoksi 1863 lääninarkkitehti Setterbergin piirustuksin. Östermyyran rautatieasema sijoittui 1880-luvulla noin 4 km päähän kartanosta.
Monien omistajavaihdoksien jälkeen Ilmajoen tuomiokunnan tuomari, hovioikeuden assessori Konstantin Törnudd osti pieneksi kutistuneen kartanoalueen 1904. Hän antoi kartanolle syntymäpitäjänsä Tyrnävän ruotsinkielisen nimen Törnävä, josta muodostui Seinäjoen silloinen kirkonkylä.
Törnudd testamenttasi tilansa silloiselle Seinäjoen kunnalle, jonka haltuun se tuli 1925. Ensimmäiset suunnitelmat kartanonpuiston kunnostamiseksi ja laajentamiseksi tehtiin 1964. 1960-luvulla aluetta rakennettiin vapaa-ajankäyttöön ja tehtiin mm. viheralueiden muutostöitä. Seinäjoen kaupunki aloitti kartanonpuiston kunnostamisen ja entistämisen 2000-luvun alussa.

Description
Törnävä ironworks manor is a diverse cultural-historical area where the industrial history of the province, gentry culture and the farmhouse building culture of the museum area intertwine. The manor park associated with the water landscape of Seinäjoki, and the Ruutipuisto nature reserve, contain considerable landscape values.
Östermyra is one of the ironworks of Ostrobothnia, and the ironworks manor buildings and park are on the east bank of the river plain. The narrow Ruutipuisto on the west bank is a nature reserve.
The courtyard of the ironworks manor is formed by the main building of the ironworks, built in the Empire period, and two almost symmetrical wing buildings. The first part of the manor's main building was completed probably in 1806. The building was renovated to its present size and Empire-style exterior in the 1830s. Opposite the manor are two residential buildings, originally intended for the ironworks' smiths.
At the far end of the park axis leading from the manor is the Empire-style gunpowder factory test room “Propeeri”, built in 1826. The manor's farmyard, with its stables, dairy, cowsheds and workers' residential buildings, was located south of the manor courtyard. Among the buildings that have survived are the stone cowshed built in 1856 and the Pehtorintalo built in 1841.
The manor park and garden have been professionally maintained since the 1830s. The manor park and garden were fenced from the corners of the main building to the wing buildings and further to the highway. The approach road was lined with double rows of birch avenues. On the west side of the main building there was a formal garden enclosed by a hedge and divided into symmetrical beds.
The ironworks area includes Törnävä church, used by Seinäjoki parish, which was originally the gunpowder magazine of the gunpowder factory. Industrial-historical monuments, the ruins of the buildings related to iron production and gunpowder production, are on the banks of Tikkukoski and Ruutikoski.
Today the main building of the manor serves as the representative premises of the City of Seinäjoki. Most of the other buildings are in the museum area of the Etelä-Pohjanmaan maakuntamuseo. On the east side of the road running through the manor area is a museum area consisting of South Ostrobothnian folk buildings moved to the site. The islands between the river's side branches are used for theatre and recreational activities.
History
Östermyra ironworks received a privilege to establish a manufactory forge refining pig iron in 1798. The ironworks was founded on the Tikkakoski rapids in Seinäjoki by Abraham Falander, a burgher of Vaasa. A new phase in the history of Östermyra began when Falander (ennobled as Wasastjerna) was granted a privilege in 1804 to establish a “kankirautavasara” hammer and two furnaces.
The industrial and manor environment of Östermyra was built mainly by Falander's son Gustaf Adolf and later by his son Gustaf August Wasastjerna. The two-storey part of the manor's main building was built in the first decade of the 19th century. The wing sections were built in 1833–34 to designs by Baron Karl Roesenkampff. At the same time, the log building was rendered to resemble a stone building. The glazed veranda, completed in 1860, was designed by architect Chiewitz.
The first gunpowder factory in Finland was established at Östermyra in 1825 through cooperation between Wasastjerna and the state. From the gunpowder factory buildings, the state had a gunpowder laboratory, the Propeeri, built on the site, the drawings for which were probably prepared at the intendant's office.
Gunpowder production proved less profitable than iron processing. The construction of the Saimaa Canal and the first railway construction sites in the 1840s–1860s in particular increased the profitability of the gunpowder factory. The factory operated until 1890.
In the late 1830s, the ironworks' iron production rose considerably, at times being among the largest in the country. Fires destroyed Östermyra, and production decreased steadily in the 1850s and 1860s.
Construction in the manor area was lively, especially until the middle of the 19th century. The ironworks' industrial activities also included a brewery and a flour mill founded in the 1850s, a plum mill from the 1860s, and a sawmill, dye works and tamppaamo founded in the 1870s. Almost all of these factory buildings have been demolished.
Gustaf August Wasastjerna continued his father's work in the 1850s, and during his time the manor's agriculture was developed and the Inha ironworks in Ähtäri was established. Gustaf August was also involved in founding the Tampereen Pellava- ja Rautateollisuusosakeyhtiö in 1861. However, the Tampere company ran into difficulties in the 1860s, as a result of which the Wasatjerna family lost the funds it had invested in it and was also forced to give up the Östermyra manor and the Inha ironworks.
During the 19th century, the church village of Seinäjoki (Östermyyra) developed around the Östermyra factory and manor area. The stone gunpowder store was converted into a church in 1863 to designs by county architect Setterberg. The Östermyyra railway station was located about 4 km from the manor in the 1880s.
After many changes of ownership, Konstantin Törnudd, judge of the Ilmajoki district court and assessor of the Court of Appeal, bought the manor area, which had shrunk in size, in 1904. He gave the manor the Swedish-language name of his home parish, Tyrnävä, Törnävä, which became the then church village of Seinäjoki.
Törnudd bequeathed his estate to the then municipality of Seinäjoki, which took possession of it in 1925. The first plans for restoring and extending the manor park were made in 1964. In the 1960s the area was developed for leisure use, and, among other things, green-area alterations were carried out. The City of Seinäjoki began restoring and renovating the manor park at the beginning of the 21st century.
