Kuvaus
Haukkavuori on valtakunnallisesti arvokas maisemanähtävyys.
Uudenkaupungin rauhan rajamerkkejä on nykyisessä Etelä-Karjalassa Haukkavuoren lisäksi mm. Rautjärven Torsansalon tien varressa sekä Torsanvuorella. Lisäksi Uudenkaupungin rauhan rajamerkkejä on mm. Virojoella (ks. erillinen kohde Uudenkaupungin rauhan rajakivet).
Historia
Vanhaa Suomea.

Description
Haukkavuori is a historically significant landmark of the centuries-old border lines on the eastern frontier, through which the borders of the Täyssinä (1595) and Uudenkaupungin rauha (1721) peace treaties ran. The border of the Pähkinäsaari peace (1323) also passed through the area.
The steep-sided Haukkavuori, about 80 metres high, lies at the northern end of the elongated Sarajärvi, on the border between the present-day municipalities of Rautjärvi and Ruokolahti. On the hill is a border marker, cut into the rock after the Uudenkaupungin rauha, bearing the Swedish crown, a star-shaped Russian cross motif, and the year 1722.
From the hill there is a hilly view over forest and waterways. Haukkavuori is a nationally valuable scenic attraction.
In addition to Haukkavuori, border markers of the Uudenkaupungin rauha are found in present-day South Karelia, among others, along the Torsansalo road in Rautjärvi and on Torsanvuori. Border markers of the Uudenkaupungin rauha are also found, among other places, at Virojoki (see the separate entry Uudenkaupungin rauhan rajakivet).
History
The area of present-day Rautjärvi and Ruokolahti has been a border region for centuries. The border of the Peace of Pähkinäsaari of 1323 was never marked on the ground, but it is known that it already ran through present-day Rautjärvi at that time, as did the border of the Peace of Täyssinä, concluded in 1595. In the Peace of Stolbova in 1617, the border that had moved to Laatokka returned to its old position in the Peace of Uusikaupunki in 1721, when it was marked on the ground for the first time. In the Peace of Turku in 1743 the border moved further west, Ruokolahti was annexed to Russia, and it became part of the so-called Old Finland.
