The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Salokunnan kirkko on erityisesti sisätiloiltaan korkeatasoinen esimerkki uudemman kirkkoarkkitehtuurin muotoratkaisujen soveltamisesta paikallisseurakunnan mittakaavallisesti vaatimattomampiin tarpeisiin.

Mäntykankaalla sijaitsevan suojaisen sisäpihan ympärille ryhmitelty, puhtaaksi muuratusta tiilestä tehty rakennusryhmä sisältää pulpettikattoisen kirkkorakennuksen ohella seurakuntasalin ja työtiloja. Kirkon asemaa korostaa erillinen valkoiseksi kalkittu kellotorni risteineen.

Epäsymmetrisen kirkkosalin päämateriaalit ovat punatiili ja puu. Arkkitehtonisena aiheena ovat lautakaton kattotuolit alttaria kohti kohoavassa tilassa. Punatiilisissä alttaripäädyssä ja kuorin sivuseinissä on monijakoinen ikkunasarja. Massiivipuinen penkistö tiililattiaa vasten on osa tiilen ja puun vuoropuhelua.

Salokunnan kirkko sijaitsee valtakunnallisesti arvokkaalla Karkku-Tyrvää -maisema-alueella.

1910-luvulta lähtien oli suunnitteilla kirkon rakentaminen palvelemaan vesistön jakaman Karkun eteläpuolista osaa. Päätös rakentamisesta tehtiin 1940, mutta arkkitehti Timo Penttilän suunnittelema seurakuntatalo valmistui vasta 1960. Rakennuksen sali vihittiin kirkoksi saman vuoden lokakuussa.

Salokunta church is, particularly in its interior, a high-quality example of the application of the design solutions of newer church architecture to the more modest needs of a local parish in scale.

The building group, made of exposed brick and grouped around a sheltered inner courtyard at Mäntykangas, includes a church building with a monopitch roof as well as a parish hall and work premises. The church's position is emphasised by a separate white-limewashed bell tower with its cross.

The main materials of the asymmetrical church nave are red brick and wood. The architectural motif is the boarded roof trusses in the space rising towards the altar. The red-brick altar gable and the side walls of the chancel have a multi-divided window series. The solid timber pews set against the tiled floor are part of a dialogue between brick and wood.

Salokunta church is located in the Karkku-Tyrvää landscape area, which is of national value.

From the 1910s onward, a church was planned to serve the part of Karkku south of the waterway that divides the area. The decision to build was made in 1940, but the parish hall designed by architect Timo Penttilä was not completed until 1960. The hall of the building was consecrated as a church in October of the same year.
