I Kila by fanns på 1560-talet sex gårdar.

A representative group-village environment has survived in the village of Kiila, where the peasant building stock dates from the latter part of the 19th century and the early part of the 20th century.

The village of Kiila and its nearby fields, located in the northern part of Kemiö, in the so-called Suomenkulma, form a wide landscape bounded by hilly ridges. The farm centres have survived on their old village plots. The village's rintapelto has been cleared on the isthmus between the sea bays, and the village itself is concentrated on a low ridge on the northern edge of the village field.

In the village of Kiila there were six farms in the 1560s. In the mid-16th century Kemiö was one of the largest parishes in the country, with about 550 farms, most of them in the upper part of the parish. Of the parishes in Finland Proper, only Kalanti was as populous; in the whole country, only a few parishes were. The land registers of the 1540s show that farming in Kemiö already had a long tradition at that time. Along with the rest of Finland Proper, Kemiö was among the country's most successful agricultural areas during the period of traditional farming.
