Kuvaus
Längelmäen kirkonkylä on poikkeuksellisen hyvin 1900-luvun alkupuolen asussa säilynyt pienen ja syrjäisen, mutta vauraan pitäjän keskus, missä 1770-luvun kirkon ympäristöön on rakennettu 1800-luvulta 1950-luvulle mennessä tyypilliset kunnalliset ja kaupalliset palvelut.
Längelmäen kirkonkylä on rakentunut rikkonaiseen, kapeiden lahtien ja laaksojen muodostamaan viljelymaisemaan, jossa pellot viettävät Kirkonlahteen, Junkilanlahteen ja osin Pitkäjärven rannoille. Kylän nykyinen rakennuskanta ulottuu 1700-luvulta 1950-luvulle. Kirkonkylä peltoaukeineen ja talonpoikaistaloineen on säilyttänyt hyvin 1900-luvun alun aikaisen luonteensa.
Maisemaa hallitsee rakennusmestari Antti Piimäsen johdolla 1772 rakennettu länsitornillinen pitkäkirkko. Kirkon lähellä on Längelmäen pitäjän lainamakasiini. Kirkonkylän keskustassa on kylän tärkein rajattu raittitila, jonka varrella on mm. entinen pankin rakennus. Kylän länsiosassa on kirkonkylän entinen kansakoulu ja kunnalliskoti. Kirkon ja hautausmaan välillä ovat Vanhatalon ja Uusitalon tilat. Poukan tila on Junkinlahdenlahden rannalla kirkonkylän keskustasta länteen.
Historia
Kirkolle päätettiin samalla rakentaa uusi tie Hiukkaalta. Hakosalmen kylän vanhimpien talojen, 1797 halotun Talolan ja Poukan historia ulottui 1500-luvulle.
Mestari Antti Piimänen valittiin kirkon rakennusmestariksi 1767 ja paanukattoinen kirkko valmistui syksyllä 1772. Kirkon tornia korjasi mestari Matti Åkerblom-Pärnä 1794. Laudoituksen tekivät mestarit Matti Fri ja Elias Enqvist 1846-1848. Kirkko korjattiin 1896 arkkitehti J. Stenbäckin suunnitelmin. Pitäjän lainamakasiini rakennettiin mahdollisesti 1824.

Description
Längelmäki church village is an exceptionally well-preserved centre of a small, remote but prosperous parish, in the early 20th-century guise it has kept. Around the church of the 1770s, typical municipal and commercial services were built from the 19th century to the 1950s.
Längelmäki church village has grown into a fragmented farming landscape formed by narrow bays and valleys, where the fields slope down towards Kirkonlahti, Junkilanlahti and, in part, the shores of Pitkäjärvi. The village's present building stock dates from the 18th century to the 1950s. The church village, with its open fields and farmhouses, has kept its early 20th-century character well.
The landscape is dominated by the long church with a western tower, built in 1772 under the direction of master builder Antti Piimänen. Near the church stands the lainamakasiini of Längelmäki parish. In the centre of the village is its most important enclosed raittitila, along which stands, among others, the former bank building. In the western part of the village are the former church village elementary school and the municipal home. Between the church and the cemetery are the Vanhatalo and Uusitalo farms. The Poukka farm is on the shore of Junkinlahdenlahti, west of the centre of the church village.
History
Längelmäki parish was established in 1640, when Orivesi also became a chapel of ease of Längelmäki. The first church was built in 1641 in the village of Karvia. The church was cramped and its ground was poor, so it was decided to build a new church elsewhere. Several sites were proposed, but in the end Hakosalmi, more central in the parish than the previous site, was chosen as the church site. At the same time it was decided to build a new road to the church from Hiukkaa.
Master Antti Piimänen was chosen as the master builder of the church in 1767, and the shingle-roofed church was completed in the autumn of 1772. Master Matti Åkerblom-Pärnä repaired the church tower in 1794. Masters Matti Fri and Elias Enqvist carried out the boarding in 1846-1848. The church was repaired in 1896 to designs by architect J. Stenbäck. The parish loan storehouse was possibly built in 1824.
Hakosalmi village's oldest houses, Talola, which was burned down in 1797, and Pouka, had histories extending back to the 16th century.
