The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Asemarakennusta on laajennettu 1927.

Lapinlahti railway station is a small rural station on the Savo line, with a uniform building stock and a well-kept station park.

The class V station building of Lapinlahti was designed by Bruno Granholm and was built in 1902. The double watchman's cottage, outbuildings and earth cellar were built in 1903. The station building was extended in 1927.

A decision in principle to extend the Savo line north from Kuopio was made at the 1897 Diet. Construction work began in 1898, and the line was opened to traffic in 1901.

The municipality acquired ownership of the station area, and after restoration it was inaugurated for use in cultural tourism in 2000.
