The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Oulu-Tornio -radan pieniä asemapaikkoja edustavalla Simon rautatieasemalla on yhtenäinen rakennuskanta radan valmistumisajalta vuosilta 1903-1904. Hyvin alkuperäisellään säilyneellä asema-alueella on asemarakennuksen lisäksi tavaramakasiini, kaksi asuinrakennusta talousrakennuksineen.

Ensimmäinen ehdotus radasta Oulun ja Tornion välille tehtiin 1885 valtiopäiville. Päätös radan rakentamisesta syntyi 1897 ja rataosuus Oulusta Tornioon valmistui 1902. Simon rautatieasema asuinalueineen rakennettiin 1903-1904 arkkitehti Bruno Granholmin suunnitelmin.

Simo railway station, representative of the many small stations on the Oulu-Tornio line, has a uniform building stock from the time the line was completed, in 1903-1904. In the station area, which has survived in a very original state, there is, in addition to the station building, a goods storehouse and two residential buildings with outbuildings.

The first proposal for a railway between Oulu and Tornio was made to the Diet in 1885. The decision to build the railway was taken in 1897, and the Oulu–Tornio line section was completed in 1902. Simo railway station with its residential area was built in 1903-1904 to designs by architect Bruno Granholm.
