Kuvaus
Onnistaipaleen kylä on tiiviisti raitin varteen rakentunut ryhmäkylä, jota ympäröi laaja ja pinnanmuodoltaan vaihteleva, pieniin vesistöihin rajoittuva viljelymaisema. Kylässä on säilynyt runsaasti 1800-luvun loppupuolen vaurasta talonpoikaisrakentamista.
Onnistaipaleen kantatalojen pitkät, yksikerroksiset, kaksikuistiset päärakennukset ovat säilyneet 1900-luvun alkupuolen asussa. Pihapiireissä on hirsirakenteisia navettoja ja useita erityyppisiä aittoja. Hörtsänä on ollut Oriveden huomattavimpia tiloja. Ylä-Hörtsänän entisen rusthollin arboretum eksoottisine puulajistoineen on perustettu 1909. Erillään ryhmäkylästä sijaitsevat Ala-Hörtsänän talouskeskus Myllyjärveen pistävällä niemellä ja Pulkkilan kantatila kyläkeskuksen kaakkoispuolella. Kylässä on 1920-luvun klassismia edustava koulu.
Historia

Description
Onnistaipale is a group village built tightly along the raitti, surrounded by an extensive farmland landscape of varied relief bordering small water bodies. The village has preserved abundant farmhouses from the prosperous peasant building of the late 19th century.
The long, single-storey, two-porch main buildings of the kantatila farms of Onnistaipale have survived in their early 20th-century form. The farmyards contain log-built cowsheds and several different types of granaries. Hörtsänä has been one of the most notable farms in Orivesi. The arboretum with exotic tree species at the former Ylä-Hörtsänä rustholl was established in 1909. Separate from the group village are the Ala-Hörtsänä farm complex on a promontory projecting into Myllyjärvi and the Pulkkila kantatila, south-east of the village centre. The village has a school representing the classicism of the 1920s.
History
Onnistaipale village probably acquired permanent settlement in the late Middle Ages. The name Onnistaipale was first mentioned in written sources as early as 1508, when the village is known to have had six large farms. Of these, Isotalo-Hörtsänä was the largest and wealthiest at the end of the century.
A posting inn also operated at Onnistaipale in 1730-1770. The road running through the village was the main route north from Kangasala to Ruovesi. At the end of the 19th century, Onnistaipale was one of the largest villages in Orivesi.
