The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Kokemäenkartanon historiallisessa maisemassa on poikkeuksellista ajallista syvyyttä.

Kartanoalueella, jonka rakennuskanta on uusiutunut, sijaitsee edeltäjiään pienimuotoisempi päärakennus 1880-luvulta. Kartanolle johtaa pitkä puukujanne halki peltoaukean. Puolustusvarustuksista ei ole juurikaan säilynyt näkyviä rakenteita.

Pohjoisrannalla Villiö-Orjapaaden alue muodostaa laajan peltomaiseman, jonka laidalla kohoaa pitkänomainen Orjapaaden kalliomuodostelma.

Kokemäenkartanon kohdalla joessa oleva Isoluoto on ilmeisesti 1395 mainittu Åborg-niminen linna.

Forsbyn keskiaikainen linnan paikka on ollut Kokemäenjoen keskellä olevalla saarella. Linnaluodon laella on ollut pohjakaavaltaan suorakulmainen, noin 40 x 40 metriä laaja linna. Linnaluoto on lounais-, luoteis- ja kaakkoispuolelta varsin jyrkkäreunainen ja ainoastaan koillisessa joen pääuoman puolella on ollut matalamman sivun suojaksi rakennettu vallihauta. Kaivannosta nostettu maa on koottu linnanpihan laidalle.

Hjalmar Appelgren-Kivalon Linnaluodolla 1886 suorittamien pienimuotoisten kaivausten lisäksi linnan jäänteitä on tutkittu 1970-luvun lopulla. Talteen otetut löydöt ovat linnan kronologian määrittämisen kannalta ongelmallisia. Ainoastaan keramiikka voidaan ajoittaa jonkinlaisella tarkkuudella.

The historical landscape of Kokemäenkartano has exceptional depth in time. The area has been inhabited since prehistoric times, and in the Middle Ages the administrative centre of Satakunta was located there, comprising Kokemäenkartano as well as the castles on the islands of Isoluoto and Forsby Linnaluoto in the Kokemäenjoki.

In the manor area, whose building stock has been renewed, stands a main building from the 1880s that is smaller than its predecessors. A long tree-lined avenue leads to the manor across an open field. Few visible structures of its fortifications have survived.

On the northern shore, the Villiö-Orjapaasi area forms a broad field landscape, at whose edge rises the elongated rock formation Orjapaasi. At the edge of the rock, at the end of a long tree-lined avenue cutting across the fields, lie the farms of Simula and Väylä with their large buildings. Along the village road that follows the curve of the rock, and on the slope of the rock, there is a dense strip of former cottages and mäkitupa smallholdings of landless people. Orjapaasi rock has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced on the rock by a sacrificial spring and a Bronze Age burial cairn.

The main building of Simula has a frame from the 1830s, while its windows and glazed veranda date from the late 19th century. The central outbuildings of the farmyard date from the 19th century. A birch avenue leads to the farm from the main road.

Prehistoric and historical settlement spread in Satakunta along the Kokemäenjoki valley. By the early 14th century at the latest, the Satakunta county had been established, and until 1367 its administrative centre was the castle on Linnaluoto in Forsby, Kokemäki. From the early 1370s at the latest, its successor was Kokemäenkartano. At Kokemäenkartano, the Isoluoto island in the river is apparently the castle named Åborg, mentioned in 1395.

The medieval castle site at Forsby has been on an island in the middle of the Kokemäenjoki. On top of Linnaluoto stood a castle, rectangular in plan and about 40 x 40 metres in extent. Linnaluoto has steep edges on its southwest, northwest and southeast sides. Only on the northeast side, facing the main channel of the Kokemäenjoki, was a defensive ditch built to protect the lower side. The earth dug from the ditch was piled along the edge of the castle courtyard.

Apart from the small-scale excavations carried out on Linnaluoto by Hjalmar Appelgren-Kivalo in 1886, the castle remains were investigated at the end of the 1970s. The finds recovered are problematic for determining the chronology of the castle. Only the pottery can be dated with some degree of precision. Among the five pieces, however, there is pottery of Iron Age type, red earthenware dating to 1250–1350, and stoneware dating from the 14th century at the earliest.

Kokemäenkartano was granted as a fief to prominent men, including the bishops of Turku, and later it was a royal manor and a ratsutila. On a small rocky islet off the shore of Kokemäenkartano stood a stone tower, also known as a kistu, which was used as a prison. Its ruins were demolished in 1834. The medieval huovintie road ran from the Turku region via Kokemäki to the mouth of the Kokemäenjoki.

Near Kokemäenkartano was also Teljä, a significant early medieval trading place, and several villages. As a result of land uplift, the navigability of the Kokemäenjoki deteriorated, and the economic centre of gravity moved closer to the mouth of the Kokemäenjoki. In 1545, the Kokemäenkartano castle fief was divided into the Ylä-Satakunta and Ala-Satakunta bailiwicks.

The Simula farm was originally located right along the Kokemäenjoki, but was moved to the foot of the Orjapaate rocks in the early years of the 19th century.
