The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Suomenkylä on Suur-Saimaan seudun maanviljelyskylä, jonka 24 vanhan talonpoikaistilan rakennuskanta muodostaa selkeitä ryhmiä peltoaukealle.

Suomenkylää ympäröivä avoin viljelymaisema on muodostunut laakealle moreenimäelle. Kylän alueella on vanhoja lehtipuita. Kylän keskeltä avautuu vaikuttava näkymä Kuolimo-järvelle, ja kumpuilevassa maastossa olevat kylän viljelykset leskeutuvat kohti järveä.

Suomenkylä on valtakunnallisesti arvokas maisema-alue.

Suomenkylä is an agricultural village in the Suur-Saimaa region, where the building stock of its 24 old farmsteads forms distinct groups on the open fields.

The open farmland surrounding Suomenkylä has formed on a flat moraine hill. The village's buildings are for the most part well preserved and restored. The buildings that form the village's coherent farmyard groups are mainly from the early 20th century. An old main road runs through the village, and the farm centres of Naakka, Sikanen, Mäkelä, Kujala and Ala-Kirsi lie right along the road alignment. There are old deciduous trees in the village area. From the centre of the village there is an impressive view over Kuolimo-järvi, and the village's fields, set in undulating terrain, slope gently down towards the lake.

Suomenkylä is a landscape area of national value.

Suomenkylä, as part of Suomenniemi, belonged to Russia after the Treaty of Turku in 1743, and it was incorporated into the Grand Duchy of Finland in 1812. The oldest holdings have been in the possession of the present-day families from the 18th century. The isojako was carried out in the village in 1844, when the village had 21 kantatila.
