Kuvaus
Rakennus on suunniteltu puolustusvoimain rakennusosastolla. Säterikattoiset tallit ovat puhtaaksimuurattua punatiiltä.
Päärakennuksen lähellä on 1930-luvun ratsukoulun aikaiseen rakennuskantaan kuuluvat koulurakennus, ruokalarakennus sekä ratsukoulun ja siittolan johtajien asuinrakennukset. Klassistiset Koivula ja Kuusela rakennettiin 1930-luvulla ratsukoulun ja siittolan johtajien asunnoiksi.
Kartanon vanhoista rakennuksista on jäljellä 1700-luvun lopulla rakennettu ja 1930-luvulla uudistettu satulakattoinen, kaksikuistinen päärakennus ja muutama 1800-luvulla rakennettu talousrakennus. Kartanon puista päärakennusta on muutettu olennaisesti. Päärakennuksen läheisyydessä sijaitsevat 1800-luvulla rakennetut kiviset viljamakasiini ja härkätalli. Loimijokirannassa on kartanon 1880-luvulla perustettu meijeri. Kartanokaudelta on peräisin myös myöhemmin muuhun käyttötarkoitukseen muutettu suurnavetta.
Hevosjalostuslaitoksen ja siihen liittyvien maatalousoppilaitosten ympärillä on hakamaista, niityistä ja metsälaitumista koostuva yli 60 hehtaaria käsittävä laidunalue, jonka keskellä sijaitsevat hevosurheilualueet.
Historia

Description
The area of the horse breeding institution in Ypäjä forms a unique and multi-layered built ensemble with temporal depth.
The State Horse Breeding Institution and the agricultural educational institutions operating in connection with it, the horse husbandry school and the agricultural smithy school, as well as the Suomen ratsastusopisto, are located on the middle reaches of the Loimijoki. The large red-brick stables built during the army's period of ownership in the 1930s and the wooden riding hall are located outside the former courtyard of the manor.
The façades of the plank-built riding hall are undivided. A continuous row of windows has been placed along the eave line, and the entrance is flanked by arch and pilaster motifs. It is architecturally and constructionally interesting, and in its details functionalist in type. The building was designed by the building department of the Defence Forces. The stables with säterikatto roofs are built of exposed red brick.
Near the main building are the school building, the canteen building, and the residences of the directors of the cavalry school and the stud. These belong to the building stock from the cavalry school period of the 1930s. The classicist Koivula and Kuusela were built in the 1930s as residences for the directors of the cavalry school and the stud.
Of the manor's old buildings, what remains is the gable-roofed, double-porched main building built at the end of the 18th century and renovated in the 1930s, together with a few outbuildings built in the 19th century. The wooden main building of the manor has been substantially altered. Near the main building are the stone grain storehouse and the ox barn, both built in the 19th century. On the bank of the Loimijoki is the dairy founded by the manor in the 1880s. Also from the manor period is a large cowshed, later converted to another use.
Around the horse breeding institution and the agricultural educational institutions connected with it is a pasture area of more than 60 hectares, consisting of wooded meadows, grassland and forest pasture, in the middle of which lie the equestrian sports facilities.
History
Kartanonkylä in Ypäjä historically belonged to the Jokioinen manor as one of its many outlying holdings until 1792, when the manor was bought by the Pinello family from Turku, and the Kartanonkylä manor was formed from five crown-tenure farms and the isolated farm of Viloila. The new manor's main building was completed in 1798. The holdings of Kartanonkylä were merged in 1915 into Jokioinen Osakeyhtiö, which was owned by Alfred Kordelin. After Kordelin's death in 1917, the state redeemed the Jokioinen and Kartanonkylä manors from the estate. Much of the manors' land was divided into smallholdings at the beginning of the 1920s under the Crofters' Emancipation Act and the Land Redemption Act.
At the end of the 19th century, a committee was appointed to plan the establishment of a state horse stud. On the basis of the research it commissioned, it was established that horses grow and develop better in upland areas than in lowlands and wet ground. The horse stud committee inspected several farms in southern Finland and chose the Kartanonkylä manor, then owned by the state, as the most suitable for the purpose, as its terrain was hilly land with firm ground.
The Defence Forces' cavalry school and horse depot were moved from Lappeenranta to Ypäjä in 1933. New buildings designed by the building office of the Ministry of Defence were erected on the manor's land, including two stables with säterikatto roofs built of brick and a plank-built riding hall.
The State Horse Breeding Institution was founded in 1937, and Ypäjä was the natural location for its operations. The area has also housed the Defence Forces' dog kennel and war dog school.
In the 1980s the area was infilled with new buildings according to the plans of the architectural office Hyvämäki-Karhunen-Parkkinen.
