The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Kerava on yksi Suomen ensimmäisen, Helsinki-Hämeenlinna -radan asemista. Keravan rakennuskannaltaan monipuolisen asema-alueen historiallinen ydin muodostuu asemarakennuksesta, sen vieressä olevasta entisestä postitalosta, kahdesta asuinrakennuksesta sekä Alikeravantien varrella sijaitsevasta asuinkasarmista. Asemarakennus on torneineen poikkeuksellinen puuasemien joukossa. Postitalo on esimerkki asema-alueille sijoitetuista, nyttemmin harvinaistuneista postirakennuksista.

Keravan puisen aseman uusrenessanssiulkoasu on pääpiirteissään säilynyt.

Rakennusta laajennettiin 1904. Aseman asuinkasarmi, kahdeksan perheen asuintalo, rakennettiin arkkitehti Bruno Granholmin vuodelta 1896 peräisin olevien piirustusten mukaan.

Kerava is one of the first stations on the Helsinki-Hämeenlinna line in Finland. The historic core of the Kerava station area, which has a varied building stock, consists of the station building, the former post office building beside it, two residential buildings, and the residential barracks located on Alikeravantie.

The wooden station building in Kerava retains its neo-Renaissance exterior in its main features. Beside it is the post office building from 1913. The residential barracks, located on the opposite side of the railway, is almost 50 metres long and is significant in the townscape due to its volume, its decorative cladding and its location. It is also an exceptionally representative example of railway residential buildings.

Kerava has become one of the busiest stations in the Helsinki metropolitan area, and the station area has been renewed; most significantly, the platform area has changed, including the underpass and platform canopies.

The railway link between Helsinki and Hämeenlinna opened to traffic in 1862. Kerava's first station building, moved to the site in 1863, soon proved too small, especially when the completion of the Kerava-Porvoo line in 1874 increased traffic. The present station building was built 15 years after the opening of the railway, in 1876-1878, probably to plans by Knut Nylander. The building was extended in 1904. The station's residential barracks, an eight-family residential building, was built to drawings by architect Bruno Granholm dating from 1896.
