Kuvaus
Historia
Pohjois-Savon erämaiden pysyvämpi asutus alkoi keskiajan lopulla. Maaningan Tavinsalmelle perustettiin hallinnon ja veronkannon tarpeisiin kuninkaankartano 1543, jonka ympärille muodostettiin 1547 oma Tavisalmen hallintopitäjä ja kirkkopitäjä 1549, jotka kattoivat lähes koko nykyisen Pohjois-Savon. Hallintopitäjään kuuluneessa Leppälahden kylässä oli 1560-luvulla yksi talo, joka sijaitsi Leppäsaaren länsipuolella lahteen laskevan laskuojan suulla.

Description
Leppälahti and Kuivaniemi are representative examples of Savonian dispersed village settlement.
The agrarian landscape of Leppälahti, on the border of Maaninka and Lapinlahti, consists of the village of Leppälahti on the western shore of Onkivesi and of Kuivaniemi, a ridge-like headland projecting northward into Onkivesi. The farmsteads, built in clear yards, are sparsely located in the open field landscape, each on its own knoll, at a distance from one another that still keeps them within sight.
Leppälahti and Kuivaniemi belong to the same landscape entity as the Väisälänmäki national landscape.
History
Permanent settlement in the wilderness areas of North Savo began at the end of the Middle Ages. At Tavinsalmi in Maaninka, a royal manor was established in 1543 for the needs of administration and tax collection. Around it, the Tavisalmi administrative parish was formed in 1547 and the church parish in 1549, which together covered almost all of present-day North Savo. In the village of Leppälahti, which belonged to the administrative parish, there was one farm in the 1560s, located on the western side of Leppäsaari, at the mouth of a drainage brook flowing into the bay.
