Kuvaus
Uusiutuneen paperitehtaan toiminnan alkuajoilta peräisin olevia osia on säilynyt. Teollisuuden ja tehdasyhdyskuntien luottoarkkitehdin W.G. Palmqvistin kädenjälki leimaa monia Jämsänkosken tehtaan rakennuksia.
Historia
Palmqvistin suunnitelmin. Tehtaita laajennettiin myöhemmin. Selluloosan valmistus päättyi 1981, paperinvalmistus jatkuu edelleen.

Description
The industrial community of Jämsänkoski has a varied and long history of harnessing hydropower near a narrow rapids on the upper course of the Jämsänjoki river.
On the bank of the Alisenkoski rapids, at the junction with the Isännöitsijän silta bridge, are preserved remains of the cellulose industry buildings, kept as memorial-type monuments: the acid tower and sulphur tank from the 1960s, the Patalankoski power plant, and the factory club building and the classicist community hall Ilveslinna from 1937. Dams and canals give their character to the industrial environment. The setting of the community hall is a park-like landscape with its lime trees, while the rapids environment is in its natural state, apart from the stone Winter War and Continuation War memorial in the middle of the rapids.
In Rekolankoski, above Koskikeskus, there is still an old mill as well as a power plant built in 1922.
Parts dating from the early days of operation of the renewed paper mill have survived. The work of W.G. Palmqvist, the industrial and company architect, marks many of the buildings of the Jämsänkoski factory.
History
At Jämsänkoski there were domestic mills from the 16th century onwards. A water sawmill was established at Hovilanhaara in 1792, and a sulphite pulp mill in 1888, followed later by a paper mill. The parish and municipality of Jämsänkoski, which grew up around the factory, became independent of Jämsä in the 1920s, but at the beginning of 2009 Jämsänkoski was merged into Jämsä.
The oldest brick parts of the pulp mill and the repair workshop were built in the 1890s, and the paper mill in 1902, to designs by B. Blom. The extension of the pulp mill, the community hall Ilveslinna and the Rekolankoski power station were built in the 1920s and 1930s to designs by W.G. Palmqvist. The mills were later extended. Cellulose production ended in 1981; paper production continues to this day.
