Kuvaus
Palojoen kylämaisemalla on kansallista symboliarvoa, joka liittyy kansalliskirjailija Aleksis Kiveen syntymäkodin, elämän ja kirjallisen tuotannon välityksellä.
Aleksis Kivi, ensimmäinen merkittävä suomeksi kirjoittanut kirjailija, on syntynyt Palojoella. Kirjailijan syntymäkoti on Taaborinvuoren juurella Palojoen kylän vanhassa kyläkeskuksessa. Aleksis Kiven syntymäkoti on alunperin hänen isänsä, räätälimestari Erik Johan Stenvallin asuin- ja työhuoneekseen rakennuttama mökki. Rakennus on nykyisin museokäytössä. Aleksis Kiven päivää eli suomalaisen kirjallisuuden päivää vietetään liputtaen 10. lokakuuta. Kiven hauta on Tuusulan kirkon hautausmaalla.

Description
The village landscape of Palojoki has national symbolic value, linked through the birthplace, life and literary output of the national writer Aleksis Kivi, the first significant author to write in Finnish.
Aleksis Kivi was born at Palojoki. The writer's birthplace is at the foot of Taaborinvuori, in the old village centre of Palojoki. The birthplace of Aleksis Kivi was originally a cottage built by his father, master tailor Erik Johan Stenvall, as a dwelling and workshop. The building is now used as a museum. Aleksis Kivi Day, also known as Finnish Literature Day, is celebrated on 10 October by raising flags. Kivi's grave is in the cemetery of Tuusula Church.
From the yard of Aleksis Kivi's birthplace there is a view towards the cultivated fields sloping down towards Palojoki, and towards Vuolteenmäki. The farmsteads of Troski, Ali-Lalla and Yli-Hemmola are on the south-facing slope of the old village hillside. Although the village's building stock has been renewed, the historical elements have survived: the road network, the location of the fields, the relationship of buildings to the landscape, and the traditional placement of buildings within the farmyards.
History
Palojoki village was one of the largest in Nurmijärvi. In the 1560s, the village of Palojoki, which belonged to the administrative parish of Sipoo, had 9 farms. According to the parish map drawn up in the mid-18th century, Palojoki was a compact group village divided into two parts. Five of the village's farms were on a hill near the present Troski farm, and the second group consisted of two farms and a soldier's croft on the southern slope of Taaborinvuori. The original holdings from the Greater Partition are Mattila, Hemmola, Lalla, Heikkilä, Granni, Troski and Maisi. The splitting of farms and the establishment of Crown new holdings increased the number of farms in the village, which had already reached 18 by 1800. Most of the new holdings were located outside the actual village centre.
The birthplace of Aleksis Kivi was built in 1824 by Aleksis Kivi's father, master tailor Erik Johan Stenvall. Merchant J. Fr. Groth bought the house in 1890 and made extensive changes to it. The Aleksis Kivi Society was founded in 1941. The Society acquired the birthplace in 1947, after which the building was restored to its original room layout and roof form and opened in 1951 as a museum run by the Society. The museum passed into the ownership of Nurmijärvi municipality in 1965. Since 1953, the annual Kivi-juhlat has been held at Taaborinvuori in Palojoki, the writer's playground.
Aleksis Kivi was born on 10.10.1834 and lived in a cottage until school age. Numerous places and buildings in Nurmijärvi are connected with Aleksis Kivi's life, and he used them as models in his works. Well known are Ojakkala and Raala manor, which are considered to have been models for Jukola and Viertola. In Nurmijärvi church, Aleksis Kivi was confirmed, and on the church hill stands the house of Costiander, a travelling school teacher. Aleksis Kivi spent his last year living in his brother's cottage along the Tuusulan rantatie, on the grounds of the Krapi farm. Kivi died on the last day of the year 1872 and was buried in the churchyard of Tuusula.
