Marlfield
A mile and a half west is Marlfield, home of John Buckner, clerk of Gloucester County, who brought the first printing press into Virginia. Buckner printed the laws of 1680 without license, for which he was reproved in 1682 by Governor Lord Culpeper and his printing was prohibited.
